Faris Moumbagna's (24) season quickly fell apart when he lost his ACL minutes while coming on as a substitute in the first match of the season at Olympique de Marseille. However, L'Équipe write that the Cameroon international is getting closer to a return to fitness and on his current trajectory he should be back with the team by early spring.
The striker will find a much-changed team compared to the one that defeated Stade Brestois 5-1 at the start of the season. Moumbagna would be the back-up option for the summer signing of Elye Wahi. However, his injury forced Marseille to enter the transfer market and led to the arrival of Neal Maupay from Everton.
Wahi's poor performances saw the striker linked with an early exit and relegated to second choice behind Maupay (and perhaps third behind promising teenager Robinio Vaz who impressed on his debut). It will remain to be seen how Moumbagna will now fit into a team that has worked under Roberto De Zerbi for half a season.
