Chelsea hold Garnacho transfer talks as Man Utd star’s agents make telling move

Chelsea are set to hold talks over the signing of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho after his agents were spotted at Stamford Bridge this week for the team's 3-1 win over Wolves.

Garnacho has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this month after struggling for game time under Ruben Amorim since replacing Erik ten Hag in October.

Chelsea has been touted as a possible destination and speculation only increased after Garnacho's representatives Carlos Cambeiro and Quique De Lucas of agency Lead3rs were seen in the stands at Chelsea's recent home match.

The 20-year-old was also pursued by Napoli in this transfer window, with the Serie A side seeing a £40million bid rejected by United as the club sought a replacement for winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

According to a report from the Telegraph, the Blues will hold talks over their interest in Garnacho before deciding whether to make a move for the Argentine.

It is understood that Cambeiro and De Lucas were not invited to Stamford Bridge by Chelsea owners Todd Boehly or Behdad Eghbali, but their presence 'increased' the transfer rumors.

Chelsea are reportedly looking for three new attacking players, including Garnacho, Dortmund star Jamie Gittens and Bayern Munich star Mathys Tel.

United are prepared to play hardball on Garnacho, the report continues, with the Red Devils reportedly wanting more than £50m for the player. It has been suggested that United could be willing to cash in on Garnacho as he came through the club's youth system and would look like a pure win as far as PSR rules are concerned.

Garnacho has made just six starts in Amorim's 15 games in charge since arriving from Sporting Lisbon, with the Portuguese boss preferring to play Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes as his strikers behind Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee.

Amorim has insisted that the player will stick to his plans despite not giving him regular playing time. He said: “He has talent. He needs to learn to play in a different position. He needs to play better inside.”

“He improves a lot in the recovery position when he doesn't have the ball. But that sometimes puts him not in the right place to make transitions like in the past. I prefer to defend and then build up with all team to reach the final third.

“He's finding the best way to play in this system. He's improving in training. He started the last game. Let's see tomorrow. I think he's changed the way he sees himself.”
