The postponed Premier League match between Everton and Liverpool is now expected to take place on February 12 after Arne Slot's side booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The first Merseyside Derby of the season was initially due to take place in early December. However, it was canceled after Storm Darragh caused extensive damage in the country.
The new date was confirmed in mid-January, although announcements at the time acknowledged that the match would have to be rearranged again if Liverpool faced a European play-off. Thanks to the Reds' win over Lille on Tuesday, the February date is now official.
Liverpool have won seven of seven games in Europe, ensuring a top eight finish in the league stage with a game to spare. That means they will progress straight to rounds 8 and 20, while the teams finishing 9th to 24th will have a play-off round in the same week as the rearranged Merseyside Derby.
February's match will be the last Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park before Everton move into its new stadium. It will also be the first to see David Moyes back in charge, after predecessor Sean Dyche took over the helm of the original game.
Dyche was fired at the beginning of January and Moyes returned after more than ten years. He will be in the home dugout on February 12 and the away dugout on April 2 when Everton travel to Anfield in a match that could be crucial at both ends of the table.
Moyes claimed the first win of his second spell on Sunday, holding on for a 3-2 victory over Spurs to move Everton four points clear of the relegation places. Liverpool, meanwhile, are six points clear at the top after beating Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool are assured of one of the top two places in the Champions League, while Barcelona keep them honest after a comeback win over Benfica. Lille became only the second team to score against Arne Slot's men in Europe, with Jonathan David briefly leveling after Mohamed Salah's opener, but Harvey Elliott ensured the 100 percent record remained intact.
“I think we can improve,” Slot told Amazon Prime after the win. “Probably like Pep's [Guardiola] team won, he would say they can improve.
“Perfection is not possible. We try every day. We will probably never come across 10 out of 10. West Ham away was a great achievement. The competition you face or the team you face tells you that then we faced them, they were not at their best. City was the best game we have played so far.”
