Paul Pogba says he has received a number of offers from clubs eyeing a return to football in one of Europe's elite leagues.
The former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder, 31, is a free agent after terminating his contract with the latter in November. That agreement came after his suspension for using a banned substance was reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Pogba last played in September 2023 and is eligible to return to competitive football in March. Since January he has been able to sign for a new club.
He revealed to Twitch streamer Amine this week that he was in talks about a return – and the former World Cup winner has confirmed he is only interested in joining a top team.
“There are offers. There are some interesting things, some not so interesting,” Pogba said. “Playing in Russia is not the goal. Playing for a team that plays in the Champions League? We always want the best clubs, but that is not just up to me.”
'There are discussions. It is being completed. That's all I can say.'
While Pogba has teased that a deal is close, ESPN claim they have been told there is still a long way to go before Pogba signs up for a new club. However, they add that he has offers on the table from teams in Europe's top five leagues.
There has previously been talk of a shock return to Manchester United, although such reports have been shut down. However, Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi opened the door to a transfer for Pogba last month.
When asked about ties with the Frenchman, De Zerbi replied: “I would like to have only champions in my team. Pogba has always been a champion, but to be honest we never talked about it during my conversations with the staff. “
“In January we mainly have to find players for the needs we have. If champions come, we will of course try to find space and ensure that they can live together. That would be absolutely no problem for me. If you have top Players, it's not my problem, it's the opponents' problem.”
