Liverpool transfer news: PSG want Mohamed Salah as Reds star makes exit decision

Time is running out for Liverpool to make some big moves in the January transfer window.

Liverpool have not spent much since the arrival of Arne Slot, with Federico Chiesa their only real summer signing. However, there have been some trips this month, with goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga joining Fluminense and midfielder Thomas Hill joining Harrogate.

Defender Calvin Ramsay has also been loaned out to Kilmarnock for the remainder of the season, while winger Kaide Gordon has seen his loan spell at Norwich come to an end. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool make any moves to strengthen their first team this month, especially as they are still competing for four trophies.

With all that in mind, Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumors surrounding Anfield.

PSG wants Salah

According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain is willing to do 'anything' to sign Liverpool.

Salah is out of contract at the end of the season and has also attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League. However, it is claimed that PSG will pull out all the stops in a bid to bring Salah to Paris this summer.

This is despite PSG having already strengthened their forward line this month after spending around £60 million to sign winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli.

Elliott's transfer decision

Harvey Elliott was linked with a move away from Liverpool this month, but the midfielder has insisted he will not be going anywhere.

Elliott is yet to make a Premier League or Champions League start for Liverpool this season but does not want to leave Anfield. “I think it's pretty clear to be honest… I'm not leaving,” Elliott told Amazon Prime after scoring in their 2-1 win over Lille.

“I said it in an interview recently: this is my team, this is my club, I'm a big fan and we're in a great position so far this season. [speculation] That's always going to happen in January, especially after being out for a long time and not playing as much as I would like, but that's football.”

Doak stays

Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick has confirmed that Ben Doak will remain at the Championship club for the remainder of the season.

The Liverpool loanee was linked with a permanent move this month, with the likes of Ipswich, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth all said to be interested in his services. However, the deadline for Liverpool to recall Doak has now passed, meaning he will remain on loan at Middlesbrough.

“The deadline for Ben has passed,” Carrick said after Doak scored in their 2-0 win over West Brom. “I said all the time that I was calm! Of course we are very happy that he is here, but to be honest it was not that big of a problem for us. He showed again tonight how dangerous he is and then scored a great goal .”
