The Denmark international was the subject of a €25 million bid from United last week, which was rejected.
United are ready to try again with a bid of almost €35 million for Dorgu.
Transfer expert Ben Jacobs reports: “Manchester United are optimistic that a deal can be reached with Lecce for Patrick Dorgu for less than €40 million.
“Negotiations between clubs continued today. Napoli should not be left out, but Dorgu is keen to move to Old Trafford.”
