Key factor behind Liverpool’s glory quest helping them eclipse EPL title rivals

The Fab Four conquered the world in the 1960s – and now the Fantastic Five are doing it for Liverpool in 2025.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank praised Liverpool as the best team in the world and they top both the Premier League and Champions League. Much of their success is down to their five attacking players: Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez, and they are the best attacking force around.

They scored a total of 59 goals and 28 assists and helped Liverpool win everything, both at home and in Europe. The fivesome have failed to score in just three of Liverpool's 33 games and the Reds have not lost when they have scored.

Salah leads the way with 22 goals and is ably supported by Diaz and Gakpo with 12, while Jota has seven, despite his injuries, and Nunez six. They have all contributed to big moments for Liverpool this season and Salah has scored key goals against Manchester United, Chelsea, Wolves, Arsenal, Southampton, Newcastle and Tottenham, to name just a few of his victims.

Diaz scored his first Reds hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in his first game as a number 9 and also excelled at Old Trafford and against Bournemouth and Tottenham. Diaz is having his most productive season for Liverpool and he needs just one more goal to match last season's tally, which is his best at Anfield.

Gakpo is also having his best season for the Reds, scoring fantastic equalizers against Leicester and United, as well as Real Madrid and Manchester City. Jota is going through a difficult time with injuries, but he has still scored important goals, including his winner at Crystal Palace and equalizer against Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

Even though Nunez is having his quietest season for Liverpool, he is still performing against Bournemouth and RB Leipzig and scoring two injury-time goals at Brentford in the biggest moment of the season so far. Head coach Arne Slot always has at least one of them on the bench and they scored seven goals, most notably Jota's equalizer against Fulham and Forest and Nunez's double against Brentford.

Compare all this to Liverpool's title rivals and it's clear why they are so far ahead in the race for the Premier League. Arsenal and City have only one player in double figures and Kai Havertz is the Gunnes top scorer with 12 and Bukayo Saka has nine.

Erling Haaland has been sensational for City and the Norwegian hitman has scored 23 goals. But cut off his supply line and you cut off City's goals and Phil Foden is their next top scorer with nine.

It's a powerful weapon for Liverpool to go into games knowing one of their fantastic five will almost always score.
