According to a report from L'Équipe, AS Monaco have inquired about the status of former Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool player Georginio Wijnaldum (34). The Dutch midfielder who returned to the international team at EURO 2024 has been playing his football in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq since leaving the French capital in 2023.
Monaco are in the middle of a search for an experienced midfielder who can help strengthen their options and support: Denis Zakaria. The Swiss international has been a linchpin for Monaco when he has been on the pitch, but has missed a significant amount of playing time this season due to injury.
Monaco's search has led them to two Premier League midfielders. Their first number, Edson Alvarez, was axed after West Ham rejected the Principality's loan offer, while reports emerged today that the club were also eyeing Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi.
