Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (23) watched as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Manchester City (4-2) at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening, giving a huge boost to their hopes of qualifying for the next round of the UEFA Champions League.
Bradley Barcola (22) got on the scoresheet that evening and scored the crucial equalizer on the hour mark. It is a goal that confirms a return to form for the France international, who has struggled to match his early-season performances over the past two months.
And it's also a timely return to form. It came just days after Kvaratskhelia was signed for big money from Napoli. The prolific Georgian winger poses a direct threat to Barcola's position on the left wing, a position he has made his own since the departure of Kylian Mbapp (26) in the summer.
According to L'Équipe, Barcola was “surprised, to say the least” when he saw PSG recruit Kvaratskhelia. The pair, as well as Désiré Doué, who can also play on the left wing, are now competing for the spot.
