Competition report
While champion Bayer Leverkusen remained a 2-2 draw at RB Leipzig, Vincent Kompany's team was able to increase their lead on top thanks to goals from Kane and defender Kim Min-Jae.
Bayern, which is on 48 points, lost 3-0 to Feyenoord in the Champions League on Wednesday, but started well against Freiburg and hit Jamal Musiala de Paal.
Bundesliga top scorer Kane then gave them the lead after 15 minutes, made a quick twist on the edge of the penalty area and sent a low drive in the net.
Nine minutes after the restart, Kim headed the ball into the first post from a corner, creating a lead of two goals before Freiburg withdrew a goal in the 68th minute through the header of Matthias Ginter.
Bayern managed to hold a fifth victory in a row – which corresponds to their best extraction streak of the season – even though they had only tried seven shots, the lowest total in a top match this season.
Freiburg has now lost three times in a row and has dropped to ninth place in the rankings, where this bad series came after they were defeated only twice in their eight previous Bundesliga matches.

When Eric Dier Kane set up for the opener, the duo became the first English players to combine each other for a goal in the Bundesliga since the start of the Opta records in the 2004-2005 season.
It was a good start to the new year for Kane, where Bayern won all four league matches in 2025, in which the attacker contributed three goals and an assist in that series.
His goal in the first half brought him to seventeen goals in the Bundesliga this season, with six of those hits the most important opening goals.
Kane also scored in the reverse match of September against Freiburg, where that match became a 2-0 victory.
And Bayern's last victory over these opponents continues their dominance in this match, since they have now remained unbeaten in the last 18 league matches, of which they have won 14.
