Newcastle set date for Isak contract talks amid Arsenal transfer interest

Newcastle is planning to breathe new life into the contract discussions with Alexander Isak in the summer, indicating that the hope of Arsenal to bring in the sought after Swedish striker is small.

The 25-year-old has been strongly associated with Arsenal in recent months because of his good form with the team of Eddie Howe, who is again in the fight to qualify for the Champions League campaign next season.

This season, Isak scored 19 goals in 25 performances, with a goal in Saturday's 3-1 exit on Southampton. And although his last performance perhaps attracted attention elsewhere, Newcastle is relaxed about his future.

That is partly because the club wants to talk to Isak about an improved contract, De Telegraaf revealed for the first time.

It is said that the club has already planned new conversations for the summer – away from the distraction of competitions – even though the current contract of the striker has three and a half years to go.

Isak would probably be the best -paid star of the club if agreement is reached with the man who signed the record of the club in 2022 for £ 66 million.

Despite the constant ties with Arsenal, Isak has indicated that he is happy at Newcastle. It is also said that he has told his teammates that he is not thinking of leaving the club.

Although it was claimed that Arsenal Isak would not be able to pay, securing Champions League football would remove the only reason the striker could have to continue if that prove to be the case.

Regardless of whether Isak is feasible this summer or not, Arsenal certainly seems to try to increase their firepower. There is room for them to take such a step in January, if they succeed in removing a top target white at their current club.

In addition to interest in Isak, Arsenal is also the admirer of Benjamin Sesko, who they wanted to try to contract last summer before signing a new contract with RB Leipzig. Reports show that he would be available for £ 67 million at the end of the season.

Wolven attacker Matheus Cunha is another name that is advertised as a potential target for Arsenal. He could leave this month, while the new contract suggested at the beginning of the month was still not signed.
