Paris Saint-Germain 1-1 Reims: Champions frustrated on home turf

Paris Saint-Germain has once again passed a difficult game against Reims in the Parc des Princes, after it was in the Ligue 1 on a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

PSG has not succeeded in winning one of the last three home games against Reims, the last time against Bordeaux between August 2010 and August 2012.

The team of Luis Enrique threatened in the opening fights with Ousmane Dembele, the first to test Yehvann Diouf in the goal of Reims after a dazzling run in the sixteen.

Goncalo Ramos then quickly missed two glorious opportunities in succession, first forced a rescue from Diouf before heading out of a corner over the teasing pass from Lee Kang-in.

But only two minutes after the break the Parisiens found a breakthrough when Dembele De Pass of debutant Khvicha Kvaratskhelia collected and sent a deviated attempt home.

Reims continued to investigate, despite a counter goal, where Junya Ito headed up close after he was picked out by Keito Nakamura at the back post.

The visitors were eventually rewarded shortly afterwards for their pressure when Nakamura guided the ball along a stranded Gianluigi Donnarumma through an overwhelming counterattack.

From that moment on, PSG did not succeed in creating clear opportunities, with the speculative attack by Nuno Mendes scored from a distance in a comfortable way by Diouf.

Details: The series continues

Despite the disappointment that it was unable to score even further on the Ligue 1-top, PSG ensured that their undefeated seasonal start was continued on their own soil.

The team of Luis Enrique has lost none of the first nineteen league games in 2024/25 for the fourth time in their history (after 1985/86 and 2018/19) (fourteen won, five draws on), more than all previous competitions. Other teams combined (St Etienne in 1957-58, Nantes in 1994-95, Lyon in 2004-05).

But there will be reason for concern in the future. The Parisiens have now not succeeded in winning two of their last five games, in which they scored the first goal after they won their previous eleven games in the top class.

It was also a promising start of his PSG career for Kvaratskhelia. He had most ball contacts in the penalty area (nine) and also participated in most duels for the hosts (19).
