Ian Wright offered the Premier League standard after Arsenal had received a controversial red card against Wolves on Saturday.
Referee Michael Oliver sent the 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly on the eve of the peace for an error on Matt Doherty, while Wolves broke away from an arsenal-set piece.
It resulted in the visiting players around Oliver in Fury. There was an initial confusion about whether the red card was due to Lewis-Skelly who refused a goalscores chance, despite the incident that played 90 meters away from the goal.
But the Match Center account of the PGMOL on X confirmed that the challenge was considered 'serious cheating', which was checked by the VAR Darren England.
After the incident, Wright went to social media, described it as a joke and argued for the Premier League to implement a better standard of referees if they have to be considered the best competition in world football.
He said: 'May I just say, it's a joke. Everyone who has ever played the game, and I'm not even talking about Premier League – I'm talking about five -a -side, Sunday League – knows it is never a red.
“Yellow card, nobody says a word. Time and again, this level of referee, the decisions in the Premier League, the inconsistency, the apologies, the apologies – all [the referees] just [want to be the] Central attention, for me.
'We can't be too difficult, because where does the referees come from? Where are we going to get them?
“But I'm sorry. This is the highest level of football and we do not have the highest level of referees. When will the Premier League bring the best referees in the so -called best competition in the world.
'Because at the moment, with this level of referees, we are nowhere in the area. Nowhere in the neighborhood. '
Wright added to the caption of his post: 'Whether you have played a Sunday League or 5 a side or prime minister League level, you know it is just never a red card.
'They are going to try to find all kinds of angles and slow down MOs to try to justify the incompetence and inconsistency of PGMOL. Because what is the use of the VAR if the referee has done it wrong, but they will not correct him ??????? '
A furious Mikel Arteta said that he was 'messy' about the controversial red card of Lewis-Skelly and confirmed that Arsenal will appeal against the decision if it is not automatically destroyed by the FA.
Arteta said: 'It is so clear that I leave it to you. I am absolutely smoking, but I leave it with you because it is so clear. I don't think my words will help.
'Hopefully we don't have to (appeal to the red card) and if it has to, it happened and it is really a good precedent, which also happened to Bruno (Fernandes) this season. We are in a position in which we should not be. '
If the decision is maintained, Lewis-Skelly plans to miss some huge games for the Gunners.
He will be absent for their collision with Man City at the Emirates next Sunday and the EFL Cup semi-final second stage against Newcastle three days later, a draw that Arsenal Trail 2-0.
His ban will be over after the Premier League match of Arsenal in Leicester on 15 February.
England also had a VAR service for the controversial non -compound Luis Diaz -goal against Tottenham in September 2023, where he had not destroyed incorrect offside.
The broadcast was the fourth of Arsenal in the competition this season. Wolves also went to 10 men, 70 minutes, after Joao Gomes was red card for a second yellow.
