Ronald Araujo saga leads Barcelona to making contract change

Earlier this week, Ronald Araujo signed a new long -term contract with Barcelona, with which speculation about his future was terminated for the time being. The 25-year-old was destined to leave this month after he had become unhappy with his situation, but after much convincing from Sporting Director Deco he remained for the time being.

As part of those discussions with Deco, ARAUJO was promised that his release clause would be reduced from € 1 billion to a more affordable amount for interested clubs. Since then this has been confirmed as € 65 million, although it was not Barcelona that this announced, and there is a deliberate reason for this.

In the past, Barcelona has often confirmed the value of the release clause of a players when they can sign a new contract, but they did not do this with Araujo nor with Gerard Martin, whose new deal was also confirmed earlier this week. According to MD, this will be how things are going from now on.

Barcelona believes that it is not necessary to reveal so much information to the transfer market if they had done before, and it was therefore decided that release clauses will no longer be made public by the club. It also means that when the new contracts of Pedri and Gavi are confirmed, what should happen in the coming weeks, the HENE will not be announced – although the chance is that both will stay at € 1 billion.

It makes sense for Barcelona to take this step, especially in the case of Arajo. If it is true that his new release clause is € 65 million, it will certainly attract a lot of interest from clubs throughout Europe. Juventus was very interested in signing the Uruguayan defender this month, and it would be no surprise if they were still taking a step in the summer.
