Aurelien Tchouameni remains part of Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive plan

Carlo Ancelotti needs as many Real Madrid squad options as possible for a busy second half of the 2024/25 season.

David Alaba's staggered return from injury has been a major boost in recent weeks with the Austrian back in action.

He will provide timely cover in defense, to allow calm and rotation in the Los Blancos ranks, as Ancelotti looks to balance his squad.

With the likely addition of two more matches in the UEFA Champions League play-offs in February, in addition to La Liga and Copa del Rey Action, his resources will be stretched.

According to reports from Relo, one major call has already been ticked regarding Aurelien Tchouameni's position in the coming weeks.

Ancelotti has consistently looked to ease the focus on the France international following his mixed run of form at centre-back.

Tchouameni was even booed by sections of the home fans on his return from the Spanish Super Cup, but he continues to have Ancelotti's confidence.

Raul Asencio also dealt with right back in the 3-0 weekend win at Real Valladolid, with Tchouameni playing centrally and dismissing concerns about the first play at full back.

Playing calmly about Asencio and Tchaoumani in adapted positions is taking weight off Ancelotti's mind as he needs his team to be flexible.

Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao will not play again this season after ACL injuries and it will be a case of players stepping in to cover.

Asencio's confidence at Right Back is an additional asset for Ancelotti amid growing concerns over Lucas Vazquez's ability in the role in big domestic and European games.

Real Madrid still have the chance to secure an automatic spot in the Champions League last 16, but they need to win in Brest in midweek, and the hop results elsewhere go in their favor.
