CR7 pushes away from Benzema in high profile fight

Al Nassr is in a preliminary third place after beating the soil club Al Fateh (3-1) with a goal from the Portuguese, which remains top scorer for Benzema.

Al Nassr achieved a 3-1 win over Al Fateh, the weakest team in the Saudi Pro League, in a competition that was more about effectiveness than Flair. She temporarily places the victory in third place – above the surprise package Al Qadsiah – with comfort for the team of Cristiano Ronaldo, which is confronted with a tough road to the title – running 8 points behind Al Hilal with another competition in the bag.

It is also a moral boost for the Portuguese attacker, who has added another goal to his count in the race for the Top Scorer title and has 1,000 goals in his sights. Ronaldo now leads with 14 goals, which occurs close competitors Karim Benzema and Aleksandar Mitrovic with two goals.

However, it could have been more. As usual, Ronaldo was ruthless of the first whistle. He had rejected a fine call, had a brilliant goal excluded from offside and saw a shot rattling and bouncing on the line. Sadio Mané was also very involved, just to see his own goal not allowed because of a marginal offside call.

However, it was Brazilian attacker Angelo, who opened the score for Al Nassr and benefited from a rebound from a deflection of Defender Saadane. This came just before half -time because the team started to feel the pressure not to break down the bottom of the competition. In the second half, Nassr already doubled their lead with a header by Simakan, who should have been the moment of calmness … it was anything but.

The drama came from Bento, the Brazilian keeper, who was the cause of the most bizarre game of the game. What a routine clearance should have been converted into a disaster when Bento tried to dribble along the urgent attackers. The risky movement was a counterproductive removal when the ball ended up at Batna's feet, who quietly hit him home to bring 2-1.

Although already Fateh did not cause many serious opportunities, the persistent uncertainty – one stroke of happiness could lead to an equalizer. That fear was enlightened in the dying minutes when Ronaldo sealed the victory with a counter -falling goal, calmly finishing from a pass by Mané.

He even had time to score a classic Ronaldo goal, a stunning dribble followed by a rocket shot, but it was excluded from offside. That decision clearly frustrated the Portuguese star, despite the victory – a lively reflection of Ronaldo's ruthless hunger for more.
