Khamzat Chimaev sets lofty goal for 2025 after just two UFC fights in two years

From one of the most active hunters on the UFC schedule to one of the most inactive, Khamzat Chimaev is still planning to conquer a UFC title this year.

Chimaev burst the stage with a series of three victories in about 70 days during COVID era UFC. He was not recommended if the second best thing until the UFC pushed him into higher fighting against multi -year contenders Gerald Meerschaert and Jingliang Li.

'Borz' passed with flag and pennant and ended both hunters in the first round. Chimaev then got a barn burner fight with Gilbert Burns before he destroyed Kevin Holland at UFC 279. After this, his activity fell enormously and fans saw only twice since October 2023 fighting twice.

Nevertheless, Chimaev may be able to use a UFC title shot since the submission of Robert Whittaker to UFC 308.

Khamzat Chimaev promises to take the UFC title in 2025

Although he only fought once at the end of 2024, Chimaev believes that he needs what is needed to win UFC Middleweight Gold in 2025. Chimaev is currently going to the number 3 Middleweight ranking behind Israel Adesanya, Sean Strickland and Champion Drus du Plessis.

On January 27 to Instagram, Chimaev wanted to announce his fans again that he is coming to the belt.

'[In] 2025 I will take this belt inshallah, and nobody can stop him, “wrote Chimaev.

With the current trend of Chimaev of one fight a year, we were able to do the winner of Du Plessis vs. See strickland on UFC 312 accept later in the year.

Other potential following fights for Khamzat Chimaev

Since Chimaev is not an active hunter, he may not prefer a UFC title fight. Instead, he could have a fight to prove that cancellations will not be the rest of his UFC official period.

An option is the winner of Israel Adesanya vs. Nassourdine Imavov on UFC Riyadh on February 1. The current UFC Middleweight title photo has stalled with potential rematches, so Adesanya has to fight against Chimaev to secure another title shot, is logical.

On the other hand, Imavov was able to fight against Chimaev in a title -eliminator. The route from Imavov to the title was Dicey, with his last five versions controversial.

Imavov was defeated by Strickland in 2023, after which he had a no-contest against Chris Curtis because of a headbump. He followed that with a silly decision victory over Roman Dolidze and then assured some of them an early break against Jared Cannonier. In September 2024 he won another sloppy decision against Brendan Allen.

None of these versions impressed fans, so it would be reasonable for him to fight another fight before he competes for the title.
