Sevilla secure new Nigerian number nine from Ligue 1 on 4.5-year deal

Sevilla has announced the signing of a new striker because they want to treat their goals. Nigerian number nine Akor Adams, who will wear the number 15 shirt, put pen on paper about a 4.5-year-old deal with the Andalusian side after successful negotiations last week.

The imposing figure of Adams arrives from Montpellier in Ligue 1, where he played 15 games this season, scored three times and also assists three times. The previous year he had succeeded in reaching double digits in France and operated as their starting striker.

The deal is worth a reported € 5 million and looks like it was financed by the exit from Gonzalo Montiel to the river plate. Adams should be available for manager Garcia Pimienta for their trip to Getafe this weekend. He joins colleague Super Eagles Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho in Nervion, although the last will leave the club this winter.

Adams will offer a much more physical presence for Seville in advance, measures 190 cm and give them a goalkeeper where they can search. Although he has not had a productive past at Montpellier or previous club Lillestrom in Norway, Adams should at least facilitate things for top scorer Dodi Lukebakio, potential attack partner Isaac Romero or new signing Ronald Vargas.

This season, Sevilla only has 24 goals in La Liga after 21 games, a record that made the position a top priority for sports director Victor Orta. Sevilla originally moved to Juninho Vieira from Qarabag, but then the deal collapsed their attention to Adams. In the past, Garcia Pimienta has used goalkeepers to give shape and balance to his more on possession-based ideas, with mixed results for the goal last season for Las Palmas-Oondelijk Munir El Haddadi finished to sign Sory Kaba in the pecking order.
