Neymar leaves Al-Hilal with Santos homecoming close

Neymar has ended his contract with Al-Hilal by mutual permission, whereby the Brazilian is said to be introduced to his boy's club Santos.

The Saudi Pro League champions paid € 90 million to acquire Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, but his time in the Golf was overshadowed by injuries.

He suffered a front cruciate ligament injury while representing Brazil in October 2023, 12 months later, but ran a hamstring problem in his second game.

The 32-year-old still had seven months on his contract, reportedly worth € 150 million a year, but that deal was canceled after only seven performances.

Al-Hilal said in a statement: “The club expresses his thanks and appreciation to Neymar for what he has provided at Al-Hilal throughout his career and wish the player success in his career.”

Neymar was not registered for the Saudi Pro League earlier this month, with Inter Miami linked to a step to take him to MLS.

Since then, however, several reports have suggested that he returned to Santos, whom he first connected in 2003 as an 11-year-old before he left for Barcelona in 2013.

Neymar scored 136 goals in 235 performances for the Sao Paulo Club, which won promotion to the Brazilian Serie A in 2024 after three years in the second level.
