Barcelona had now hoped to be back in the Spotify Camp Nou, but a number of delays mean that they are still playing at the Estadi Olimpic in Montjuic. As it looks now, there is no definitive return date planned by the club, although they believe that they will be back home before the end of this season.
In the last few days it has been reported that El Clasico, which is planned in May, can be played outside of Spain if the Spotify Camp is not ready to organize competitions by that time. This would enable Barcelona to earn extra money, although it would require the registration of Real Madrid, which is far from certain.
Barcelona, however, believes that it does not have to come up with that, because MD has reported that there is an expectation that Hansi Flick's team will be able to return to the Spotify Camp Nou in May, which means that El Clasico could be played in the new stadium.
That match between Barcelona and Real Madrid could have huge implications in the La Liga title race. The two clubs are currently separated by seven points (Real Madrid 1st, Barcelona 3rd), but given that the Catalans looked at their best in the first few weeks of 2025, they will hope to close the gap by the time May walks around.
There is no doubt that there is a restlessness in Barcelona for the return of the first team to the Spotify Camp Nou-NOT only for the benefits on the field, but also because it will considerably increase the income of the matchday compared to the money That is currently earned with playing in the Estadi Olimpic. For now, club officials must be patient, although there is a growing conviction that they will be back soon.
