In recent weeks, Barcelona have been very busy renewing contracts, and more agreements will be made officially soon. Ronald Araujo and Gerard Martin have already signed new deals for the past seven days, and because many of three of their teammates are also expected to commit their future.
Pedri and Gavi have already reached similarities to stay in Catalonia until 2030, so that their current deals are extended by four extra years. If that was not enough for Barcelona supporters, it is expected that a fifth renewal will also be completed by the end of this week.
As reported by Jijantes (via Sport), Barcelona is planning to activate the extra 12-month clause in the contract of Inigo Martinez in the coming days. Some time ago it was agreed that the veteran defender would stay in the club for another season, regardless of whether he reached the number of performances needed to activate an automatic expansion of his current deal.
Martinez's current contract runs within less than six months, but it is obviously considered that he will not leave Barcelona in the summer. This season he is impressed by club officials next to Pau Cubarsi in the center of defense, although he is currently out of the team after storing an injury in the Spanish Super Cup victory on Real Madrid earlier this month.
Barcelona appreciates Martinez a lot, and Hansi Flick also sees him as an integral part of his plans, even if he is no longer a regular starter after an injury now that Ronald Araujo has entered the fight. Since there are doubts about Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia who stay after the summer, it is completely logical to stay where he is.
