Tottenham receive MAJOR injury boost as defender returns to training after missing two months with a hamstring issue

Tottenham received a much -needed boost on the Lacquet front with the return of defender Micky van de Ven to first team training.

The Dutchman is on December 8 from the 4-3 defeat of Chelsea van Spurs on December 8.

The side of Ange Postecoglou has had a scorching run since then and only won one of their eight Premier League matches.

Spurs revealed that the fast defender returned on Tuesday to the training with a social media post that showed the 23-year-old all kilometers while preparing himself to participate in the session.

The Noord -Londers remain without the central defensive Christian Romero of Van de Ven, who perished in the same game with an injury.

The welcome news comes in the midst of a report that James Maddison can be sidelined for a maximum of three weeks with a calf problem in the victory of Tottenham in Hoffenheim last week.

The remarkable list of absent from the club also includes Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie and keeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Postecoglou will not like to decline from Van de Ven, given his recent history with hamstring injuries. But the Australian is confronted with a series of competitions that will probably determine his future in the club.

Tottenham will go to their Carabao Cup semi-final second stage against Liverpool on 6 February on 6 February with an advantage of one goal from the first match. Three days later they compete against Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

After Sunday's 2-1 home defeat by Leicester, Postecoglou said: 'I am a football manager and I am judged by results, that is the way the world is.

'Hopefully we have to get a number of important players back in the coming 10 days to two weeks that I think this group will help a lot.

'Where we are in the competition is not nearly enough. That is a reflection of me and my coaching, but we still have some fantastic opportunities to make an impact in the second half of the season and I am sure that will happen. '
