Real Madrid is very close to touching their best form, said coach Carlo Ancelotti prior to the Champions League trip to France to France to be confronted against Brest.
Madrid is 16th in the 36-team Champions League table on 12 points after four wins and three losses from seven games, so that their last two in the competition won their hope for qualification.
Brest is 13th with 13 points, with both teams guaranteed at least a play-off place but still the hope of automatic qualification for the last 16.
The side of Ancelotti has already traveled to France this season and went down 1-0 in Lille in October.
However, they are now on a four-game winning streak in all competitions, since they lost 5-2 to Barcelona on January 12 at Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana.
“We were not yet at our best level, but now we are quite close. Everyone knows exactly what needs to be done and we have improved as a group,” the Italian told reporters on Tuesday.
“The individual contributions have also been important. (Kylian) Mbappe, of course, but we cannot forget Rodrygo, (Jude) Bellingham and Vinicius Junior. All this gives me more peace of mind.”
Ancelotti praised Van France Vooruit Mbappe, who scored 21 goals in 31 games in all matches since he moved to Madrid, including three goals and an assist in the Champions League.
“Mbappe has taken the time to adjust, but now he is in excellent condition. So motivated. He likes to play with his teammates and we enjoy it,” Ancelotti added.
Madrid is still contrary to a top-night finish, but will have to catch up with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Brest, Lille, Feyenoord, Monaco, Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen to achieve that performance.
“We are not going to speculate or keep an eye on the matches of other teams. We are going to win and see what is happening,” said Ancelotti.
Teams end ninth to 24th in the play-offs, which will be held in mid-February. The draw for the two -legged tires is Friday.
“We will only concentrate on ourselves. Win and try to end as high as possible. Then, as for the draw, we will see what happens,” Ancelotti added.
