Mikel Arteta breaks silence on Myles Lewis-Skelly appeal and Michael Oliver abuse

Arsenal -Baas Mikel Arteta is “really happy” the red card of Myles Lewis -Skelly against Wolves has been destroyed -but has convicted abuse addressed to referee Michael Oliver.

The Gunners were furious in Molineux on Saturday after Oliver decided to dismiss the 18-year-old left back for “serious false game” after he caught Matt Doherty during a counterattack.

Lewis-Skelly was not the last man during the challenge, which took place in his own defensive third part of Wolves, and many fans were stunned why a red card was shown instead of yellow. VAR was in the decision of Oliver.

The Spaniard said earlier that he was “absolutely smoking” about the call and claimed that it was “so clear”, the club might not even have to appeal.

Only a few minutes before Arteta would speak, the FA confirmed that the profession of Arsenal had been successful, with the three-match ban from Lewis-Skelly destroyed.

For their journey to Girona in the Champions League, Arteta said: “Yes, clearly very happy that the decision was made and Myles will be available to us.”

After the game after the game, Oliver received a flood of abuse, which Arsenal won 1-0, where the Premier League and PGMOL condemned both the messages and the police who open an investigation.

The official is reportedly under police guard after threats against him and his family and will not be in charge of Arsenal's collision against Manchester City this weekend.

When he was asked about threats to Oliver, he added: “The same, every time I talk about that subject, a player a coach doesn't matter. We have to do their best to eradicate it from the game. To everyone in football.

A number of experts have regretted the decision to send Lewis-Skelly away, with former Chelsea star Pat Nevin who said he was “stunned”.

“Myles Lewis-Skelly is only 10 meters outside the opposition box,” he said. “It must be for violent behavior, but that does not look like violent behavior. It is a cynical journey. I have never seen that in my life. I am amazed by a red card.”
