PSG have struggled to win Champions League fixtures in Germany

The UEFA Champions League of Paris Saint-Germain hopes to stay intact while they travel to MHP Arena to be confronted against VFB Stuttgart on Wednesday.

A 4-2 triumph over Manchester City brought the men of Luis Enrique in a top-24 position in the UEFA Champions League and a place in the knockout phase last week. All that can be for nothing if they cannot claim results on Wednesday, in a country that can be a difficult place for them to win.

Les Parisiens go 22nd in the last competition day of the competition phase, although Man City and Dinamo Zagreb are only two points of them on the outside of a knockout zone.

PSG has lost eight of their 13 Champions League matches that are played in Germany. The ruling Ligue 1 champions have won only three of those competitions. That is a winning percentage of only 23% for them in games that are played in Germany during the tournament. It is also their joint sausage Champions League profit rate away from home with a minimum of six visits, similar to their profit percentage in England.

Earlier in the Champions League this season, PSG was beaten 1-0 in Bayern Munich. Their last victory of the Champions League in Germany came in the first stage of the quarterfinals of 2021 and defeated Bayern 3-2. Since then they have become profitless in five consecutive visits to Germany, including a 1-0 loss at Borussia Dortmund in May 2024, which lost that semi-final simultaneously last season.

A victory – or a draw – at Stuttgart would insure them a place in the knockout phase.

PSG has not won away in Germany in the group stage of this tournament since he claims a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in November 1994. Fortunately they only need a draw to book a place in the knockout phase.
