Barcelona applying pressure on agent to force January move

Barcelona wants to make movements in the last days of the winter transfer window, but they can only do this if Ansu Fati leaves. Although he is out of favor among head coach Hansi Flick, the young attacker is determined to stay with the Catalan giants, much to the frustration of club officials.

Marcus Rashford is the player who wants to sign Barcelona for the second half of the season, but a deal depends on Fati leaves and therefore released his wages. The club is determined to make its happen, and therefore further steps are taken to push Fati to the starting door at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company.

As reported by Sport, Barcelona is now put under pressure Jorge Mendes, who is Fati's agent, to sort an exit before the winter transfer window closes next week. Club officials hope that the Portuguese can find a good proposal that the 22-year-old winger is willing to accept.

It is not only that Fati wants to stay in Catalonia, but he also has a bad experience of loan agreements after his move to Brighton and Hove Albion last season. Despite the fact that he showed early promise to the Premier League side, he got out of favor and eventually only 27 performances appeared in all competitions.

Barcelona has told Mendes that Fati will not see football if he stays in Barcelona for the rest of the season. Their plan is to send him on loan before he definitively resolves his future in the summer – probably due to a permanent sale. As the cases are now, there is insufficient interest in his services, where only Saudi Arabia shows interest. Fenerbahce is linked, but a movement seems unlikely.

There is no doubt that the situation of Fati causes a lot of frustration in Barcelona. The club will be determined to secure an exit in the coming days, but even with the help of Mendes it is far from sure to happen.
