Inter overcome 10-man Monaco to seal top-eight passage as Lautaro nets hat-trick

The Nerazzurri knew that only a draw here would be enough to end in the top eight, but they quickly had the chance to open the score while Marcus Thuram flashed the ball past Mohammed Salisu before he was transferred by Denis Zakaria for a punishment , With Lautaro who steps for four minutes.

There were soon calls for a second home fine when Denzel Dumfries seemed to be bundled by Salisu, but those professions were thrown away.

Salisu, however, lived dangerous and again avoided a penalty concession after Thuram went to the ground, but it went from bad to worse for Monaco in 12 minutes when Christian Mawissa was rightly sent to downen Thuram while the French international got away to leave Breken, with Radoslaw Majecki who saves the resulting free kick by Federico Dimarco.

However, Inter, however, properly doubled their lead when Monaco could not free up their lines and fully benefited Lautaro and from 15 meters to Huisd.

Monaco head coach Adi Hutter therefore decided to make a defensive replacement when Maghnes Akliouche was withdrawn for Caio Henrique, and although Dimarco then wasted, Monaco at least held their opponents for the rest of half.

The game was delayed to a decent pedestrian pace that was largely after the break, but Inter remained in Monaco of their quality, especially when Lautaro's Dinked Pass found Benjamin Pavard, who pulled an instinctive stop from Macecki.

Pavard did not have to worry, because Lautaro put 67 minutes in his third and took advantage of the Parry van Majecki to him from the drive of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Lautaro could easily have added to his census, the dangerous crusadable of Dumfries, before he made way to a standing ovation as a teenager debutant of the first team Giacomo de Pieri replaced him, while Monaco finished the meeting with nine men while Jordan tereze was taken out on a stretcher with a muscle injury.

Inter finished the evening fourth in the table, while Monaco slid disappointingly to the 17th, which means that they will not be sowed for the knockout play-off tie, after they now only have one of their last 11 UCL Main-trait Games won.
