Manchester United looks like they are about to seal their first signing of the window after reports close the club for a deal to sign Patrick Dorgu.
The Red Devils have left it late in the window, but the arrival of Dorgu would represent solid cases after Ruben Amorim had called for more depth on his wrestling team.
The transfer window of January is open until 3 February, which gives United more time to complete a few deals if needed, while there can also be some outgoing movements – including Marcus Rashford.
Mirror Football has taken a look through the latest news about the transfer and gossip around Old Trafford.
Dorgu said he had to snub United
Amorim is reportedly about to his first signing as Manchester United boss with Lecce star Dorgu on the way to Old Trafford after the two clubs had agreed a fee of approximately £ 25 million plus add-ons.
United has struggled on the left with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia who struggled with injuries earlier in the season, forcing Amorim to play Diogo Dalot from position. While the Denmark International appears on the way to United, his former youth coach has warned him against the move.
Jens Olsen, who managed Dorgu when he was Denmark U19 Boss and now coaches FC Nordsjælland, believes that his former player would be better off to become a member of a team where more “structure” is after a chaotic few years before the Red Devils.
“If I have to be a bit brutal. I hope he now chooses something different than Manchester United,” he told tipsbladet.
“I don't know if it fits badly, but they are just in a period in which … I don't know if you can afford to say no to United, but maybe somewhere where there is a little more structure and where things fit At his pace, “Olsen added. “Sometimes things have to go in the right order, if you can say it that way.”
United enters Race for Tel
Amorim would ideally like to secure another signature alongside Dorgu if possible, with his team that needed more depth in the attack – especially if Alejandro Garnacho or Marcus Rashford leaves this month.
Bayern Munich -star Mathys Tel is strongly connected to Chelsea in the transfer window of January, but now United has become a member of the race for his signature, according to Sky in Germany.
The report suggests that United Weighing for Tel Weighing in the event that Garnacho or Rashford leaves, with Tel to leave Bayern before the transfer deadline.
It says that there is an “open race” for Tel, but that United is “very well informed” in case they decide to dive.
This season has struggled for playing time under Baas Vicent Kompany and only started twice in the Bundesliga, a total of 253 minutes.
Rashford “could be left behind”
A player whose future remains unsolved is Rashford, who will not leave any closer to leaving just over a month since his Bombshell interview reveals his wish to leave Old Trafford.
Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are affected as possible destinations, but the player's wage remains a huge stumbling block and Manchester United knows that they will probably have to pay a large part of his wages if he stays on loan.
The future of Rashford seems gloomy after his manager Ruben Amorim had beaten his working speed in the training and claimed that he would rather play his 63-year-old goalkeeper coach about the English international.
Pundit Chris Sutton believes that Amorim has the right to call Rashford if he thinks the player does not give everything – that the coach may have the feeling that he “had no option”, but to criticize him publicly.
“If you try to get him on loan or whatever, if you tell everyone that he is a bad egg, it might not be going well with other clubs,” he told the gambling zone.
“But if that is the way Amorim feels, and everyone knows how talented Rashford is, and yet he does not show the right posture and application. I think Amorim is good to get out and say that. And why Call out managers in public because it is a last resort.
“I think it's that business with Marcus Rashford. If he can't get away, he will rot at Manchester United, that's a shame.”
