Manchester United failure laid bare as FIFA publish latest transfer report

Paris Saint-Germain was the only club in Europe that spends more money on the international transfer market last year than Manchester United.

While United may be struggling badly in the Premier League table, they came close to the first place when it came to splashing the money on new players from abroad in 2024. Nevertheless, the international transfer investments from the previous peak of £ 7.76 billion in 2023 has fallen. The report shows that in 2024 there was a record 22,779 transfers between clubs from different countries.

PSG also had an early impact in the first transfer window of 2025. The Paris side made the £ 59 million of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli, who saw Randall Kolo Muani on loan to Juventus and Napoli connected to Alejandro GarnaCocho.

It also shows how the market for women's football transfer has become more lucrative, with a record £ 12.51 million spent on international deals.
