UEFA Europa League Draw 24/25: Where, when and how to watch

The Europa League entered a new phase in 2024 with a new structure and more teams. As the competition phase approaches, 24 teams will continue to the next round of the tournament.

Eight teams qualify directly in the round of 16, while the other 16 that passed the competition phase will participate in a play-off to continue.

Here is all the important information you need to know about the draw.

Top Eight automatically qualify for the last 16 and sown

Finating in the top eight is not only beneficial from the point of view of fewer matches to play on the way to the final, but it also gives you the best sowing for the last 16. 9th to 16th sown for play-offs

The parties that miss the automatic qualification until the last 16, but end between the ninth and 16th, have to play a two-legged play-off round with the advantage that they are still being sown. Those teams will play against the parties that ended between the 17th and 24th with the return bone at home (in principle).

Bodo/Glimt, for example, ended in 9th and other attachment 10th, so that the two or 23rd placed Twente or 24th placed Fenerbahce play in the play-offs. From there is the relatively simple-11th placed Bucharest and the 12th placed Ajax will take on the 22nd placed Paok and 21st placed Union SG and so on.

There has been a big overhaul of the second competition of UEFA this season. Beyond are the days of the group of 32 teams, replaced by a 36-team competition. Each team plays eight games with the top eight that automatically qualifies for the round of 16, while the lower 12 are eliminated.

In the meantime, the teams that end between the ninth and 24th go into a play-off round to decide which eight teams will continue to the knockout section of the tournament. The round of 16, as part of the old format, continues with placed teams that play non-SEEDED teams, which leads to quarterfinals, semi-final and ultimately the final itself.

When are the UEFA Europa League Knockout phase play-offs?

The two -legged tires are played in February with the first stage that takes place on 13 February with the second stage a week later.

The games start at either 17:45 GMT or 20:00 GMT and are decided after the draw.

The knockout phase is a bracket from that moment on to the final. Teams that end between the ninth and 16th in the competition phase will be sown teams, which means that they will play against one side that ended between the 17th and 24th in the last classification.

The placed team will play their home leg second, which will be confirmed as soon as the draw has taken place.
