Barcelona concern over Dani Olmo injury return date

Barcelona will again be without midfield star Dani Olmo while they prepare for hosting Alaves this weekend.

La Blaurgana strives to stimulate their marking title hopes in the coming days with a current seven -point gap in behind Table Toppers Real Madrid.

Barcelona closed an automatic place in the UEFA Champions League Last 16 in midweek via a 2-2 draw with Serie A-Kant Atalanta.

Olmo, however, missed the collision with the team of Gian Piero Gasperini and his return date is unknown.

The former RB Leipzig star missed the last three games of Barcelona in the domestic and European action after a calf tribe in the 1-1 draw at Getafe.

According to the latest reports from Diario As, Olmo missed the most important training sessions of Barcelona this week, and he will not be included in the team to face the Basque side.

Olmo only continues to train in the gym and there is a growing concern when it will return, but the club does not put a date on its expected following appearance.

The first time frame for the 26-year-old to come back in Hans Flick's plans was potentially the Atalanta game, with Alaves seen as plan B, but that is no longer the case.

There is positive news on Center Back Inigo Martinez, with the veteran defender again in full training, while he is looking for Match Fitness.

The 33-year-old stands in line to include in the team against Alaves, but Hansi Flick will take him on the couch alone.

Olmo will be reassessed again before Barcelona's Copa del Rey Quarter Final against Valencia on 6 February, but the current signs do not look positive.

Flick wants all returning players to have full training at least a week before they are thrown into a game scenario and will have to recover Olmo.
