Dana White responds to the call -out of the Islam Makhachev of Dricus du Plessis
Dricus Du Plessis is currently in the last phases of preparation for his UFC 312 title defense against Sean Strickland, but has caught the wind of Makhachev's remarks and claims that it would be an 'easy payment day' for him if Makhachev moved to the middleweight.
Although UFC boss, Dana White was won by Makhachev and eventually recognized as the pound-for-pound number one, he has his reservations about the 33-year-old who goes up two weight classes.
“He would go to the middleweight? Yes, I don't know, “said the UFC boss last Thursday at a Power Slap -press conference.
“Listen, if he wants to move to 170, we can talk, move to 185 is a completely different level,” he continued.
Of course, the more feasible option would be that Makhachev comes to the Welterweight and a challenge for that title, but the current champion of the division is his teammate and friend, Belal Muhammad.
Although the 33-year-old did not fully exclude 'remembering the name', his head coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov would not be happy with that potential fight.
Belal will probably defend his title against unbeaten phenomenon, Shavkat Rakhmonov then and Makhachev will probably keep an eye on that fight.
Dana White offers an update on the next fight by Makhachev
Makhachev has not been as active if he had wanted in recent years and hopes to defend his lightweight title in May or June, while waiting for the Welterweightpad to become easier.
And with that, the 33-year-old emphasized a potential fight against Justin Gaethje as a fight that could be the most logical because he is one of the few top candidates he has not yet fought.
Surprisingly, after Arman Tsarukyan had withdrawn from their UFC 311 event the day before, White revealed that Tsarukyan would not immediately get a title shot, which led to fans conspiracy.
The UFC boss gave an update on the potential next fight of Makhachev, while also commenting on 'Ahalkalakets' last-minute withdrawal.
“I know there are many conspiracy theories about this, you just have to look and see how this is happening.”
