Bergwijn at the double as Al-Ittihad keep pace with Al-Hilal

Al-ittihad attracted the level with Al-Hilal at the top of the Saudi Pro League when the brace of Steven Bergwijn helped them fight back for an exciting 4-3 victory over Al-Kholood in Jeddah.

The Laurent Blanc team came in three points of the top position on Sunday after Al-Hilal had trounced Al-Akhdoud 4-0 on Friday.

Al-ittihad also hoped to go back to winning ways after they went to Damac with 2-1 on Monday to Damac.

They had to do things in the hard way, while William Troost-Ekong and Myziane struck Maolida to place the visitors from the middle of the table 2-0 within 23 minutes.

But Abdulrahman already danced Obud through the Al-Kholood-Lijlijn before he in Marcelo Grohe to halve the shortage, a mountain wine penalty made 2 nine minutes in the first half stop time.

N'Golo Kante assisted Hassan Kadish when Al-Actihad continued for the first time after 47 minutes, then Bergwijn reacted the fastest to tap after Karim Benzema showed fine footwork to force a rescue of Grohe.

Maolida's second goal from the game caused a tense finish, but the hosts kept it up to eight minutes from the stop time to match the pace of Al-Hilal at the top.

Earlier on Saturday, Fateh and Al-Qadisiyah played a 1-1 draw in the Prins Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium, while the visitors missed the opportunity to go to third place above Al-Nassr.

Al-Qadsiah, who are leader by Real Madrid legend Nacho Fernandez and also Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their ranks, took place within two minutes via Julian Quinones.

Matheus Machado, however, only 80 seconds as a half-time replacement, ensuring that Bottom Club Al Fateh earned part of the loot.

Al-Qadsiah remains fourth, behind Al-Nassr on target difference, after Cristiano scored Ronaldo to help the last one to win over Al-Raed on Thursday.
