Kane’s quality ‘just unusual’, says Bayern boss Kompany

Bayern Munich -Baas Vincent Kompany joked Harry Kane is “just unusual” when it comes to his goals in the objective.

Kane yielded twice when Bayern survived a late fear to see Van Holstein Kiel 4-3 on Saturday.

He has now scored 55 Bundesliga goals in his first 50 games in the competition, so that a new record was set in the top flight of Germany for the number of goals scored in the first 50 games of a player.

“His quality is just unusual,” said Kompany about Kane.

“But it is also his mentality. How calm he stays, how hard he works if he sometimes does not score for a game. It is impressive.”

Kane ended the game with more shots on Target (three) than one of his teammates. The captain of England has now only scored more goals against Stuttgart and Augsburg (both six) than he has against Kiel during his time in the Bundesliga.

“It was fun, it was a good game for me,” said Kane.

“The goals before and immediately after the break were crucial for us. February will be very important to us, with many games against strong opponents, we have to be ready. We need the entire team for it.”

In the meantime, Kompany was far from impressed how his team ended the game, allowing Bayern to allow twice.

“Of course I think for us for 80 minutes, to be able to lead 4-1 at home at home, it was a fairly complete game up to that moment.

“The way we have finished the game in the past 10 minutes is something that we have to assess with the players.

“You can sometimes give a goal, but if you give in to the momentum, you give the other team a chance and that is what happened.”
