Ligue 1 Side Rennes has closed a deal with VFB Stuttgart to sign French center-back Anthony Rouault (23), according to L'Equipe. The 23-year-old returns to France after he arrived at Stuttgart from Toulouse in 2023. Rouault will leave Stuttgart today to undergo his Rennes Medical. The outlet adds that the edition of Rennes to sign Rouault is increasing to € 15 million to be charged with performance-related add-ons. Rouault will then put pen on paper on a deal of four and a half years.
Rouault was said to be Rennes' Plan B if they don't sign Kevin Danso. RC Lens rejected a bid of € 22 million from their Ligue 1 rivals to sign the Austrian international center-back. The 26-year-old Danso eventually joined the Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday. Rouault is the second center-back to add this winter transfer window to Rennes after Brest-Leenlee Lilian Brassier. Les Rouge et Noir host Strasbourg this Sunday for Habib Beye's Management Ligue 1 debut.
