Manchester United has confirmed the signing of Patrick Dorgu.
Ruben Amorim was desperate to add a left back to his team before the January transfer window was closed.
And he has his husband in the form of the versatile Lecce man.
Dorgu, 20, arrives at Old Trafford in a deal of five and a half years with the option of an extra year.
Sunsport understands that United has paid £ 25 million for the defender, with an extra £ 4 million to be paid if he meets performance -related add -us.
After he put pen on paper, he said: “I am incredibly proud of calling myself a player in Manchester United; This is a very special day for my whole family.
“I can't wait to work with Ruben Amorim; His vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting.
“There is a clear plan for my development, and I think Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfill my potential and to complete my enormous ambitions.”
He said goodbye to his Lecce teammates after their collision with Parma on Friday evening, when he was an unused sub.
Subsequently, the defender will enter as a wing-back in Amorim's 3-4-3 system-on Saturday morning spotted at Milan Airport for a flight to Manchester and his medical with the Red Devils.
An agreement was reached on the reimbursement earlier in the week before personal conditions and the final checks were all done.
It comes as a welcome boost for United who have been without wounded Luke Shaw, while Tyrell Malacia and Noussair Mazraoui have difficulty touching the expected heights.
And now the Dorgu deal is closed, Malacia looks on course to leave for Benfica on loan.
Dorgu joined Lecce in 2022 and made his senior debut at the start of last season.
He has collected 57 performances for the Serie A club, with five goals too.
The 6FT 2ins-Star Die can play with left back, wing-back or even if a winger also has four caps and one goal for Denmark that has come from all youth teams from younger than 18 years.
His former manager, however, urged the rising star to beat a move to United.
Jens Fonnskov Olsen managed Dorgu when he was part of the U19S setup of Denmark.
And before the deal was closed, he told Tipsbladet: “If I have to be a bit brutal, I hope he chooses something different than Manchester United.
“I don't know if it fits badly, but they are just in a period in which … I don't know if you can afford to say no to United, but maybe somewhere where there is a little more structure and where things fit At his pace.
“Sometimes things have to go in the right order, if you can say it that way.
“The thing is that there are many paths to the goal.”
On what Red Devils fans can expect from Dorgu as a player, however, Olsen added: “Patrick is fast, he is progressive, he can go both attacking and defensive, and he has a very good left foot.
“He has been really well trained [at Lecce]Especially in the defensive part of the game, where he may have missed something.
“He is a creative player. I am incredibly happy that I brought him in and just believed in him.
“I am really happy for him, in terms of how his career has developed.”
He follows Ayden Heaven in Old Trafford as the first signing sessions of Amorim.
The exciting 18-year-old center-back rejected a pro contract at Arsenal to sign for the Red Devils on a contract until 2029.
