Patrick Dorgu completed his move to Manchester United from Lecce for a fee of £ 25 million (€ 30 million).
The left back, which can also play on the wing, has put pen on paper over a deal of five and a half years at Old Trafford, where he will wear the number 13 shirt.
Lecce President Sticchi Damiani said the club “tried to resist” pressure to sell Dorgu during the January transfer window, whereby Man Utd reportedly saw two bids rejected.
However, the Red Devils ultimately have the competition of Juventus, among others, to land the signature of the 20-year-old, who this season has made 23 performances in all competitions three goals and offer one assist.
Dorgu is the second defender who signed in the same number of days in front of Ruben Amorim, after the signing of 18-year-old Ayden Heaven from Arsenal.
Both players were paraded on Sunday in Old Trafford for the collision of Man Utd with Crystal Palace.

“I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a player from Manchester United,” said Dorgu. “This is a very special day for my whole family.
“I can't wait to work with Ruben Amorim. His vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to my potential to fulfill and complete my enormous ambitions “
Jason Wilcox, the technical director of the Red Devils, added: “Patrick is a really exciting talent. His strong defensive and attacking attributes, adaptability and working speed will make him an important part of Ruben Amorim's team.
“Patrick has had an excellent start to his career, and at the age of only 20 we know that he will continue to develop under the supervision of our excellent coaching team.”
Dorgu is likely to offer competition to Diogo Dalot, who often collected this season from the left wing in the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia due to injury.
The defender completed a team-high 13 dribbles (level with Nikola Krstovic and Tete Morente) for Lecce in the Serie A, while only Antonino Gallo (26) created more opportunities than he (19).
