Barcelona has not been able to sign new players during the winter transfer window, but they have brought in money through sales. Unai Hernandez left the club to join AL-STIHAD in a deal with a value of € 4.5 million, and more money could come before the deadline on Monday evening.
The possible relocation of Nico Gonzalez from FC Porto to Manchester City could see Barcelona earn as money as € 18 million, which would be a huge boost in the club's offer to raise money for the summer. They could also see another sales clause activated, those of Mika Marmol, although that now looks very unlikely.
In recent weeks, AS Roma has been behind Marmol, for whom Barcelona has 50% of his rights. The A Giants Series recently submitted an offer of € 7 million for the 23-year-old left-sided defender, but according to Marca it was rejected by Las Palmas.
Marmol, who came from Barcelona in the summer of 2023, had an excellent first season in Las Palmas, and although he did not play so well during the current campaign, he is still an important player in the Diego Martinez team.
Moreover, because of the 50% Sell-on clause that the Catalans have, Las Palmas is not going to negotiate with clubs during the winter transfer window. As such, their asking price is the release clause of Marmol € 10 million, which Roma is not willing to pay – and that is why they run away from the negotiating table.
Las Palmas will, however, want to cash in money in money to Marmol in the summer. His contract ends at the end of next season, and currently he has no desire to sign a new deal. As such, a sale will be sought, so Barcelona can look forward to receiving some extra money during the next transfer window, because they are planning to take important steps themselves.
