Olympique de Marseille has confirmed that Pau López (30) has left the club on loan to become a member of the Mexican silk portivo Toluca. His new club will have the option to permanently make the deal at the end of the season for an unknown compensation.
López had been the starting goalkeeper of Marseille last season, but soon discovered that he no longer had a future in La Provence, especially with the arrival of Gerónimo Rulli from Ajax. He was sent on loan to Girona this season, but found Game Time Limited in his hometown club.
He had almost returned to Ligue 1 this winter when RC -Lens were looking for a new keeper and the club even announced him as a new signing. However, that deal collapsed when it turned out that Girona would only cancel his loan until the Champions League League phase had ended.
