Inter came from a goal to save a 1-1 draw against AC Milan thanks to Stefan de Vrij's stop-time goal on Sunday.
The Side of Simone Inzaghi missed the opportunity to go to the Napoli match later in the day for the time being at the top of the Serie A classification and remained second in 51 points.
Despite a Cagey opening, Inter had the ball twice in the net in the first half, but both Federico Dimarco and Lautaro Martinez had abolished their goals for offside.
Apart from those false alarms, there was little in the way of real opportunities until Yann Sommer took a ferocious attack away from Tijjani Reijnders, but just before the break, Milan got the upper hand.
Reijnders placed the hosts on the break. Sommer denied Rafael Leao, but the goalkeeper could not hold the shot and the Dutchman was present to shoot his shot in the room of the net.
It was a more hectic start of the second half, with Mike Maignan in the opening minute with his legs of Martinez rescuing the equalizer from the start, while they also had a different goal, this time for an error by Denzel Dumfries on Theo Hernandez.
The pressure of Inter did not show up and they met three times the frame of the goal, first by the Bonzendkop of Yann Bissek. Marcus Thuram's volleyed effort also came back from the post before the towering header of Dumfries met the upright time in a stop time.
In the 93rd minute they finally received their reward. Bisseck sent a cross to the back post and Nicola Zalewski turned it off for the Vrij, who hit Maignan for the first time.

Data Debrief: Stop their derby -zinking
It is the first time since March 2022 that the Milan derby ended in a draw (then 0-0 in the first stage of the semi-final of Coppa Italia), but it would have been a welcome result with the loss of their last Two Derbies.
However, Inzaghi will feel sad, while they hit the woodwork three times in a match against Milan for the second time in their history, earlier in September 2019.
Inter ended a series of seven consecutive road races in the Serie A without giving a goal – the last goal was away from home from back to September, against Udinese.
But it was a disappointment for Milan, who now won only one of their last 10 home games against Inter in all competitions (D4 L5), so that only two clean sheets were kept in the process.
