Ruben Amorim has distinguished himself from the remaining work of Manchester United in the transfer window after the defeat of the Red Devils against Crystal Palace.
Prior to the 2-0 loss, United presented new signing sessions Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven, who completed the movements of Lecce and Arsenal in the weekend, respectively. However, work continues to do work, whereby the club wastes in the lower half of the Premier League after their 11th defeat in the division this term.
Marcus Rashford is expected to complete a move to Aston Villa after having undergone a medical medical on Sunday, while United tries to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on loan. Amorim's side has had extensive conversations with Bayern and the player's representatives to try to get a deal over the line for the deadline of Monday evening.
The head coach of United, however, only puts his focus on on-the-pack cases now, and leaves transfer activities in the hands of CEO Omar Berrada and technical director Jason Wilcox. Amorim did not offer much when he was asked on Sunday for transfer perspectives in Old Trafford.
“That's with many people in the club,” said Amorim. “I concentrate on the next game.”
The 40-year-old coach admitted that the result against Crystal Palace was disappointing, although he found hope in the performance against the Eagles. United went aimlessly after starting the game without a recognized striker, while Jean-Philippe Mateta scored a brace for the visitors.
“The result is really bad,” he said. “The performance was a bit better than the last matches. We have checked the transitions pretty well for Crystal Palace. We had two goals that we can avoid and the injury at Lisandro Martinez was difficult for the team.”
United suffered another blow when Lisandro Martinez was stretched out of the field late. The winning defender of the World Cup seemed to be popping and he stayed behind in tears when he left the field.
“We're going to see the following days, but I think it's a serious situation,” Amorim said after the game. “He is not only a great player, but also a strong character in the dressing room.
“He felt it and if you are a player, you know when it is something serious. We are here to help him at this difficult moment as he helped us.”
