Manchester City hope to take out a Deadline Day Deal for Porto Midfender Nico Gonzalez.
Conversations were considered interviews between the clubs on Monday during the transfer costs.
Sky Sports News previously reported City, who lost 5-1 to Arsenal on Sunday, does not want to meet the release clause of the midfielder of £ 50 million.
Gonzalez is included in the Porto team to be against Rio Ave on Monday evening.
Man City has already spent £ 130 million in this transfer window, which brought in Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vior.
City has investigated their options on the market for a new No. 6 with former Aston Villa -midfielder Douglas Luiz, one of a number of midfielders in which they have looked.
However, Gonzalez could now be on its way to the Etihad Stadium while the city continues their January expenditure.
The 23-year-old joined the Barcelona academy in 2013 and made 27 performances for the club before he came to Porto in a deal of € 8.5 million in 2023.
An element for denial is the fact that Barcelona would owe 40 percent of all the reimbursements that Porto has received for the midfielder.
The Portuguese side also has the option to buy an extra 20 extra at any time, which reduces barca's reduction on a possible transfer to 20 percent.
A perfect fit for Man City?
European football expert Kevin Hatchard on Sky Sports News:
“It absolutely fits, he could do very well. Pep Guardiola has been admirer of him for a while, that has also been City.
“He has been associated with a move to the city since he was a youth player, so he is a very interesting figure who has grown up in Porto. He has taken some forward steps there and can be a really good player.”
Statman Dave speaks on Sky Sports News:
“He fits in perfectly. He came in through the Barcelona Youth Academy and is long. He remembers me a bit Rodri, there is a similarity in terms of his size and his command over the ball.
“Yes, there is a lot of work to do with him, but you are thinking of getting another body in the defensive midfield- city now needs that. We saw how bad their resting of rest was against Arsenal. How often did they become three-on two ?

'Negotiations difficult in the pursuit of the city to Gonzalez'

“However, City plays hardball. They don't want to get that appreciation if things are standing.
“This deal is a bit of a waiting. One source has told me that if the city did not meet the release clause, the deal would be and that would be their transfer window.
“But this is the Deadline day of the transfer and we know money discussions. The two clubs are talking, so there can still be a movement.”
