Former Atletico Madrid and Barcelona playmaker Joao Felix look like a new movement after they have left Spanish football last summer. The Portuguese star is struggling for minutes in Chelsea and now seems to be on the way to the Serie A for his first taste of Spanish football.
After 3.5 years of trying to make things work with Atletico and manager Diego Simeone, Felix made a first loan in January 2023 to Chelsea, where he started well at Stamford Bridge, before he lost his place in the team towards the end of the season . He would then return to Atletico before Barcelona negotiated a loan for Felix last season.
Likewise, his opening games in the Catalan capital contain some magical moments, and in both games against Atletico that season Felix appeared with goals. At Montjuic it was his strike that separated the sides. However, Xavi Hernandez also decided to throw him out of the starting XI in January 2024.
However, Felix, however, expressed the desire to return, and Barcelona President Joan Laporta and Sporting Director Deco also publicly stated that the intention was to go back for a second season. While Atletico, however, was looking for a permanent buyer, that never passed, when Chelsea permanently moved to Felix and the London side cost a total of € 52 million, while Conor Gallagher went in the other direction for € 42 million.
Now Fabrizio Romano reports that Felix will join AC Milan for a loan costs of € 6 million without an option to buy from Chelsea. It will be a fourth step in 2.5 years for the 25-year-old, who has had a shortage of the desired playing time this season he wants. Felix has 7 goals and 2 assists in his 20 performances this year, which is only 947 minutes in total. At San Siro he gets the chance to work with fellow countryman Sergio Conukicao.
