E.Ferguson transfer: West Ham sign Brighton striker on loan until end of season

West Ham has signed striker Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton to the end of the season.

Brighton receives considerable loan costs for the player and West Ham covers his wages. There is no option or obligation for West Ham to sign Ferguson in the deal.

Ferguson completed his medical on Sunday and reunitates with Graham Potter, who gave him his debut in Brighton.

“I am happy that we were able to loan Evan until the end of the season,” said Potter. “He is a player that we clearly know very well, so I am grateful to the board for bringing him in.

“He has many quality characteristics as a striker that we believe will benefit the group in the course of the coming months. We are delighted to integrate him into the team and see him in action in the coming weeks.”

Ferguson, 20, returned from an injury for the last 17 minutes of the 7-0 defeat of Brighton in Nottingham Forest, his first performance in six weeks.

“It feels good to be here. Seeing the stadium and being here today, I have a very good feeling,” said Ferguson.

“I can see and know how Big West Ham United is. It was a big chance for me to get here. I know the Gaffer well and look forward to working under him again. I want to come in and do my best for the Club, score and see where we are coming. “

Speculation began to arise at the start of the transfer window that Ferguson could leave on loan in the midst of ties with Fulham, but Brighton had not yet decided if they would allow him to leave.

That was partly due to an injury to Danny Welbeck and the fact that Ferguson also carried a knock. However, Welbeck is now Fit and Ferguson seemed to fall behind him and Joao Pedro for a place in Center-Forward.

Ferguson had been out of the picture for a while and a player who was once connected to large clubs for huge money now needs regular matches – which did not seem to be a current opportunity under Fabian Hurzeler – to bring him back to his level.

Tottenham and Bournemouth were also in the race for Ferguson, while Chelsea kept an eye on developments. Everton was also interested, but knew that other clubs were in the queue.

West Ham is waiting for Celtic's Cummings

West Ham also wanted to sign Celtic Spits Daniel Cummings on Deadline Day, but saw several bids rejected.

Sky Sports News understands that the hammers will no longer follow a deal in this window. The 18-year-old has agreed the conditions for a pre-contract and the Premier League club will want to complete this week.

Celtic will ow £ 350,000 in compensation as soon as a pre-contract has been completed.

Brighton Draw Nurnberg Vooruit

Brighton has completed the Deadline Day Signing of popular Nurnberg striker Stefanos Tzimas.

Sky Sports News understands that the first reimbursement for the attacker is £ 20 million – but he remains on loan at the German club until the end of the season.

Tzimas is on loan from Paok, but Nurnberg exerted their option to buy it – only to sell it.

The attacker has signed a contract in Brighton until the summer of 2030.
