Aston Villa confirm signing of former Real Madrid star Marco Asensio on loan from PSG until end of the season

Aston Villa has confirmed the signing of Marco Asensio of the French champions PSG on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old Spain International is currently under contract with the Parisians until June 2026. He has been at PSG since July 2023 when he arrived from Real Madrid.

There is no option to buy in the deal and Villa is said to cover the wages of Asensio.

Villa manager Unai Emery has been desperate to strengthen their attack after the departure of top scorer Jhon Duran to Al Nassr for £ 65 million.

The club put Man United striker Marcus Rashford on Sunday evening and now they have secured Asensio.

He becomes Villas fourth signing of the winter transfer window after Rashford, Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia.

Triple Champions League winner Asensio has scored seven goals in 47 performances for PSG, after he has scored 61 times in 286 outings for Real Madrid.

Asensio could make his villa debut next to Rashford against Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

After the 2-0 defeat on Saturday evening by Wolves, Unai Emery insisted that his team had to make additions before the winter transfer window was closed.

“We need some players,” he told the BBC Post Match. 'We have to replace some players who have left. Tomorrow and Monday are the last two days.

'I think we will get some players to help us, because we are in the Champions League for the last 16. We have to try to get points in the Premier League to be top eight, seven, six, five. “
