Juventus bolster defensive ranks with Kelly loan signing from Newcastle

Lloyd Kelly has completed a sensational loan switch to Juventus for the rest of the 2024-25 season only eight months after he arrived at Newcastle United from Bournemouth.

The deal includes an obligation for the Serie A -side to buy Kelly for a reported reimbursement of € 14.5 million, subject to certain sports objectives.

Since Kelly made the switch to St. James' Park last June, he played 14 times over all the games, of which only four came from the start under Eddie Howe.

His last performance for the Magpies came in the 2-1 home destruction on Saturday against Fulham, to replace Lewis Hall for the last three minutes against the Cottagers.

Kelly disturbs the defense of Thiago Motta for the rest of the Serie A season, after he had lost the defenders Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal due to problems with the long-term injuries.

“Arriving from Newcastle United in the English Premier League, Kelly brings experience with him with him, physicality, air force and a solid defensive reading of the game,” Juventus said in a statement.

Juventus, who also signed Portugal defender Renato Veiga on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, travel to Como for a Serie A collision on Friday.

Welcome to our latest Juventus player, Lloyd Kelly!
