Maresca ‘not concerned’ by Chelsea errors after comeback win

Enzo Maresca says that he makes “no worries” through his team that committing mistakes, which leads to goals this season after Chelsea came from behind to beat West Ham 2-1.

Levi Colwill played a blind backpass for Jarrod Bowen, who scored the opener to West Ham just before half -time.

However, Pedro Neto equalized before Aaron Wan-Bissaka's own goal achieved the points for the blues, which moved them to fourth place in the Premier League table.

Only Southampton (17) and Aston Villa (11) have made more mistakes that this season led to goals than Chelsea's 10.

The hosts also won a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge, in which they first lagged behind Southampton (3-1) for the first time since December 2013, with this 18th game since (D2 L15).

Maresca was happy with the fight that his team demonstrated, especially after West Ham had received a more defensive approach.

“Today was a tough competition, especially mentally,” Maresca told BBC Motd. “When West Ham comes here and leans back with 10 players behind the ball, it's not easy, so you have to be mentally strong and you have to be patient.

“We had more than 10 shots in the first half. We had clear opportunities in the first half, but unfortunately we missed the target. With a few changes, the game changed completely. In general, we deserved it completely to win the game.

'I'm not worried [about the errors]It is the way we play. Sometimes defensive errors happen. A custody error, number nine misses the goal. That's football. It happens. The most important thing is to continue.

“It was a good weekend for us in terms of results [Manchester City and Newcastle United both lost] And we knew it was even better today. “

In the meantime, West Ham fell against a third defeat under Graham Potter, who became the ninth former Chelsea manager who had taken the lead against the blues in Stamford Bridge without winning.

One bonus for the Hamers was the return of Bowen, which was previously in the starting line-up than expected after recovering a foot injury.

Only against Wolves (Seven) and Newcastle United (six) did he have been involved in more Premier League goals than against Chelsea (four – two goals, two assists).

Potter was happy with the impact of his captain, but was also left frustrated because he thought that the first Chelsea goal should not have been counted due to a push by Colwill by Bowen earlier in the move.

“I thought the performance was really good, many good things,” Potter told BBC Motd. “I thought we were tactically intelligent.

“We felt a bit of bad luck with the first goal, we thought there might be a mistake in the run -up. Sometimes you need those things to go your way, but it wasn't meant.

“We could have linked a point with Mo [Kudus, who saw a late chance blocked]And I think we would have earned that.

“Jarrod Bowen was fantastic, he led the team, and it was the performance of a good leader. You see the players we have and the Spirit there. We can be positive for the future.”
