Tycoon who paid for divorce with property fraud after wife left him for Arsenal legend Cesc Fabregas wins £4.5m battle

A Tycoon who paid his divorce with a property fraud after his wife had left him for Cesc Fabregas has won a legal battle of £ 4.5 million.

Elie Taktouk married the Lebanese model Daniella Semaan in 1998, but they divided herself 13 years later when she dumped him for the ex-Arsenale Ster.

During a bitter dividing struggle, Taktouk lost the £ 5.5 million marital house in Belgravia to his ex and her new partner.

The 50-year-old was then imprisoned for seven years in 2021 about a multi-million pound of ownership fraud.

He was instructed to pay £ 4.5 million in a confiscation statement two years later after the scam.

A judge ruled that Taktouk would have to serve eight years in prison successively for his seven -year sentence if the money was not paid in default.

But Taktouk has now won the right to appeal against that order to the Court of Appeal.

This is that judges “can receive new evidence from the brother of the appellant, Dr. Wassim Taktouk, who is the performer of the estate of their deceased father”.

The court rather heard how Taktouk's father Youssef Taktouk was one of the richest men in Ibadan, Nigeria, and was worth around £ 187 million.

Both he and brother Dr. Wassim Taktouk were shareholders in his father's Wasseli company.

A previous judge investigated whether he inherited something that could be subject to the confiscation warrant after the death of his father.

But Taktouk argued: “I can't comment on a company that I had no control over, no power over.

“My father gave me and my brother a ten percent share when we were younger, in 1992, I think when I was a teenager.

“I have no details about his wealth.”

The court also heard how Taktouk rode a Porsche and a £ 21,000 a month of real estate in Kensington rented.

Between September 2014 and August 2021 he bought £ 78,000 in luxury items from Harrods.

Taktouk was convicted of 11 counts of fraud and fake violations with regard to a failed redevelopment in Knightsbridge.

The director of JMT Property LTD was privately prosecuted by ownership developer Adrian Noël and his father Frank.

They had made an initial investment to buy the property – and then made ten extra investments on Taktouk's request to do works while he was a project manager.

But he used the money to finance his extravagant lifestyle up to an amount of £ 2.5 million – although the total loss was believed to be £ 3,237,347.

Taktouk has two children from his marriage to model Daniella.

She and ex -Chelsea -star Fabregas met for the first time in the Japanese restaurant NoZomi in 2013 -start a bitter dividing struggle.
