Fans in Newcastle spotted Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on Wednesday during the semi-final of Wednesday Carabao Cup in St James' Park.
And the club participated in trolling with a brutal social post.
The magpies drove to a 2-0 win in the second legs and took the score to 4-0 in total.
Arsenal had 34 shots in both games and could not convert any of them.
After the first stage, Arteta seemed to blame the Carabao Cup ball for the amount of missed opportunities.
He said: “We also kicked many balls over the bar, and it is difficult that these balls fly a lot, so there are details that we can do better.
“But at the end that is gone, there is no way back, it is about the next game and that is our world, the reality is our world.
“It's just different. Very different from a Premier League ball, and you have to adapt to it because it will fly differently.
“If you touch it, the grip is also very different, so you adapt to that.”
With the Gunners who again struggled to convert everything in St James' Park, fans of Newcastle took the opportunity to mock Arteta for his comments.
During the second half they started singing: “It must be the ball, it must be the ball, Mikel Arteta, it must be the ball.”
The X account of Newcastle also jumped on the bandwagon with a post from the Carabao Cup Matchball and a caption that read: “The Dulprit …”
Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon both scored to secure the victory for the Magpies.
They will now be confronted next month with Tottenham or Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
