Sean Strickland’s former opponent tells Dricus du Plessis he must make one major adjustment to win UFC 312 rematch

Sean Strickland has proved to be a difficult problem for other hunters to solve recently.

Dricus Du Plessis was able to lift his hand on UFC 297 to claim the middleweight title in the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Although he remained unbeaten in the Octagon, it was also not an easy night for the South African.

The unique fighting style of Sean Strickland gave him some problems with regard to landing significant damage to the defending champion.

Prior to their UFC 312 Rematch, there are things that the South African champion can do to ensure that the fight is decided the second time more to his advantage.

Kamaru Usman says that Dricus du Persis should have his shots count more

The former UFC champion Welterweight Kamaru Usman was the second man who defeated Sean Strickland in the Octagon.

The fifth consecutive victory of USman at 170 pounds came to UFC 210 in April 2017 in the Keybank Center in Buffalo, New York, where he won a one-sided unanimous decision.

In a recent episode of his poundcast from Pound 4 pounds next to Henry Cejudo, 'The Nigerian Nightmare' spoke from experience about the game plan he used to defeat Strickland.

Usman said he was in the fight knowing that it would be difficult to touch his opponent's head and because he was very effective in checking stairs, this meant that his body was aiming for the fact that he It is not the tendency to move from the way of strikes, rather to block or parry.

He acknowledged that Dricus du Plessis did this on UFC 297, but argued that the recording of this and the throwing quality over quantity could serve him well in Sydney.

“I just think he should be a little more accurate,” said Usman.

“For me that is the adjustment that I would make, I would say that I would be a little more accurate.

“Sean Strickland can hurt you if he can land flush and sharply, he can hurt you, but for a man we can say that DDP probably has the power benefit here, so I would say that I would work a lot on a little more precisely with Your strikes and economically, so when you land, make sure they mean something. ”

Dricus Du Plessis is not known as an accurate hunter

In the past, Dricus Du Plessis has received criticism for a messy fighting style, but it works for him.

'Still Knocks' is not the most accurate or refined striker, he is even admitted in the past that he does not think much about what he will do next.

This worked well for him against Sean Strickland in January last year because he was not afraid to throw big shots, even if it meant that he was exposed or missing himself.

That said, if he is able to land at a better pace on Strickland, it will make it much more difficult for the conservative approach to the challenger to cause more damage than he and winning rounds.
